Love the randomness of Vegas... Originally posted July 3, 2010

Decided to delete an old blog started almost 8 years ago. Instead of deleting all posts, I will post many that were needed at different points of my life. Enjoy!

Last night (July 2, 2010), I decided to go to Mandalay Bay to spy on the "enemy" by "enemy", I mean Backstreet Boys concert. I was curious about the venue and the crowd they would draw. After about 20 minutes of "spying" from a window located within the resort (The concert was located at the Mandalay Beach/Pool area), I decided I was going to walk towards the casino and restaurant area. This is where the night got more interesting. I was asked by two drunk Canadians (yes...they used "eh" a lot) where to find food. One of them took kindly to my "ass", saying I was hot...go alcohol. Anyway, I walk them towards the House of Blues considering one of them said they were seeing a band there in an hour. Turns out this guy's wife was best friend's with the wife of the lead singer of this 80's metal cover band Steel Panther. So, they asked to buy me dinner and if I would join them. I know what you are thinking...why join drunk men from another country for dinner at a music diner? Well, because after surveying the situation, I had decided that this would be entertaining. They bought me dinner at House of Blues, I even danced with one of them (John) to a cover of "Mustang Sally" the blues band in the restaurant was playing. Good times were happening on a Friday night. Next, one of the guys with us decided that he would call it a night in order for him to watch World Cup Soccer in the morning. So, the rest of us met the lead singer at the concert entrance, where we received our ALL-ACCESS wristbands. We were lead in past security and introduced to roadies, security, and the rest of the band. Let me tell you, these guys are down to earth guys. As they were getting ready for the show, we were talking to one of the coolest security guys ever about concerts over the years he has seen. Talking music with fellow music lovers outweighed the age and culture differences in the room. It was a jolly good time!! We were allowed to watch the show from backstage (which in this venue meant a few feet away from them)! It was fucking awesome! They put on a great show with vulgar humor, and pulling people on stage with them! Just fucking fun!!! The next time you are in Vegas on a Friday...see Steel Panther at the House of Blues!!!  Thus, I love the randomness of Vegas.
